Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report early analysis indicate the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important representative stated the incident made him without words and had to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
